Yep I have, just the cheap brown rice, Coles does a box of 4 or 5 pouches. I vacuumed the room I planned doing it in, sprayed Glen20 in the room also and wiped down the table and 50l storage container, placed the accessories under the tub on table. Waited 20 mins or so with door shut then took a shower, went back in with wet hair and sprayed scissors, syringe hands with alcohol,
Did everything very slowly under the container leaning a bit over the desk so I could fit hands through if that makes sense, had an 80% success rate
How many cc's do you inject in rice pouches?

Can anyone tell me if this is mould or mycelium? It is growing off a ridge of mycelium not sure if it is dark in the centre or if I can see Coco through it. The whole bag is covered in mycelium and this little guy is poking up. These are the 3 best pics I can get, not easy taking pics through bag

Looks like it could be some trichoderma, it's hard to say but it kind of looks greyish to me but also can't be 100% sure. Hopefully it's just Mycelium

just for clarity my like was hoping it was myc - I wouldn’t have a clue on what things are meant to look like!

Here's some healthy lion's mane mycelium

Cordyceps, healthy but bad quality because camera refocuses every second

Some examples of contamination. Coincidentally all these were from the same vendor. Not saying it's their fault that there's contamination but you can never really trust that the liquid culture is 100% clean, hence why I test them on agar before considering injecting any bag with any liquid cultures. I also don't really mind though because these LC's were from eBay and very very cheap and have been sitting in the fridge for close to 2 years. Other LCs I did on agar from a different vendor are 100% clean.

Bacterial (2 spots) and fungal contam on nameko agar

Lion's mane contam (something just seems completely off with it)IMG_20240307_182604.jpg
Turkey tail contamination

All of this agar was dyed blue but the mycelium sucked the colouring out of it, it's exactly back to the colour it started as before adding the food colouring

Update. I've taken some wedges of agar from different strains and have put them into bags. Unfortunately a few got contaminated since I didn't store them properly while waiting for the agar cultures to take off. Trying a few rice pouches for the cordyceps which hopefully will work out okay

mind if I ask Goonie what went wrong storing them - I though u just put the lid on the plate and left them be and they’d be good?

The agar is fine it was the bags that went bad (not yours and the others by the way🤣), they weren't sealed up and were just sitting on the shelves clamped shut with zip ties, lost about 4 bags but the rest are fine. The rest were stored inside a storage container that was sprayed down with alcohol, no contam at all. New agar turned out great too, added 1g of Vegemite instead of yeast flakes so hopefully no weird yeasty shit starts growing on them 🤢🤮😂
