Your method for sprouting seeds

With the price of some genetics failure doesn't feel like an option when it comes to germination. Interested to hear from anyone who has their seed sprouting on point and what technique they use before I crack my next beans. What do y'all do?

I use my humidity dome fill the bottom with plain water just to cover the surface, I use soil or coco depending what I’m growing in at the time, pretty small pots/containers with a hole in the bottom fill with medium bit of a pre soak. A pen make small indentation drop seed in cover it over, put the lid on and straight under my propagation light usually a day or two later they are up.

Plastic sandwich bag about a third full of water. chuck em in. blow air in to fill it while sealing it... chuck it next to fridge or somewhere warm and dark.

I'm doing a practice run of rockwool cubes (with hole filled with Propagation Sand) and placed in pots filled with perlite.

I learned earlier this year that if you store your seeds in the fridge you need to pull them out into room temperature for a minimum of 2 days to acclimatise them or you'll get a very poor germination rate.
The change in temps can help break dormancy in the seeds letting the seed know its spring time and ready to grow!

I just pop the seeds into pots of coco on a heat mat that is controlled with a thermostat!

I give a bit of advice , take it or leave your choice

You are already making things more difficult than they need to be

Plant them in any medium, keep it moist and warm, they will sprout

Kiss method and you find it a lot less stressful and way more successful

yep found out this the hard way Great advice Quokka
if ya seeds have been in the fridge ( I keep my collection @ 6 c in a small bar fridge ) you should let them sit at room temp for awhile before attempting to sprout .
Then I soak them overnight in water with a tiny bit of humic/fulvic acid added.
then straight into one of those ezi plugs like pedro posted .
then you just gotta provide warmth and moisture and they should pop .
* If trying to germ older seeds I have been told that adding a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to the soak water can help also some people even
rub their seeds with a fine sandpaper but I haven't tried that one

Another vote here for germinating them in a glass of water, usually placed on top of the fridge, up the back where the heat rises up from the motor.

But going with this set up at the moment for a couple of reasons. Firstly, where I'm germinating these ones the night temps still are a bit cold. And secondly, there's a couple of different batches with this run.

It's basically a homemade bubble cloner on a heatpad, and germinating the seeds between a couple of paper towels. The heatpad is operating on a timer, 15mins on and 15mins off throughout the cooler parts of the night. I found the bugga was running too hot if left on constantly (30-32c). Last night it was doing nicely between 20-25c.

My outdoor season is underway.. hopefully. 🤞

Yeah, I've fried seeds and clones before, as heatmats can reach 36C. Now I just place a few magazines on top of heatmat to ensure temps stay under 25%. Also, much better success rate with male plants when I use old porno magazines 😜

Yeah, for sure, mate. I've had something similar saved to a shopping wish list for some time now, though its more grow room orientated. But yeah, might look into that one for next time. (y)

I'm trying to figure out a way on how to get something setup so I can have the extraction fan to kick in at either above a certain temperature or above a certain humidity. Because during the cooler months I might be struggling to keep the temps/humidity up. So been thinking I might have to have the extraction fan off at times so the light/moisture can generate heat and humidity within the room. With the idea to have the extraction fan to kick in only when the room hits the desired heat/humidity levels and shuts off again when it hits the lower temp/humidity settings.

Any ideas?
