Still, a great band live. 'Saw them headline at Castle Donington in 1982 in front of 60K-70K & again in Melbourne decades later, when I took my nephew to his first-ever live gig (he would've been about 10!!).

After I took him to see Metallica at Rod Laver Arena (his Mum didn't want to endure it), the poor bastard is now mainlined into some of the most horrendously shitful hardcore metal.

I learned a bit of Yiddish from mates I went to school with (& in a band together). 'Spent a lot of time in Melbourne's "bagel-belt". Their families & friends always openly welcomed me to their table, where pig products were often laid-out & consumed (by all). Not bad going for someone dragged-up as a Catholic!

They always referred to me as "Yok", which I took as a sorta-kinda sideways compliment. Much like my time in the Army, when everyone referred to me as "Pom". Derogatory, but I copped the pejoratives & earned respect. Pfft!!

Walking down the street, munching on some absolutely magnificent felafel with a couple of my mates, some cunt muttered "Fucking Jews" in passing. I immediately went into "Yok" mode & pulled the group of them up, telling them that I'm a fucking Catholic (the only time I invoked religion). They backed-off, even 'though I was prepared to confront them all on my own. My Jewish mates tried to pull me off the potential fight. They didn't have to.

You have to stand-up to bullies.
