Sprinkled a heap of chilli seeds on paper towel and cotton buds to try and get some to sprout artificially. Can be finicky things, only been a week but I am about 4 weeks behind. This weekend plan to sprinkle out a heap of tomato seeds in a tray until they are sprouts and then I might buy some sweet chilli seed or big long jalapeno and do the same.

Also brought some rare chilli seeds in Autumn that need to go out but haven't decided how I'd go about trying to germinate them. Straight in soil or in cotton buds or paper towel or GroDan cubes? Dunno yet will wait for all the personally collected seeds of chillis I have sprinkled to see if they germinate, even if I'm late I'll still get a decent crop will just have to keep the water up to them while they are small
Last time I tried seeds I think like 10% germinated. Pissed me off because I spent over a hundred bucks collecting heirloom seeds of all sorts of stuff and ended up wasting my time.

Ive got 15 of these raised planters now so if I can't fill them all up with punnet plants I'll directly sow seeds ontop and hope for the best.

One thing I might do is set up some kinda timed irrigation to make it easier.

Filling planters up with Searles premium which I swear was not this expensive last time I bought it

Cutting it with this cheap stuff

$112 for the above 2 bags of each potting mix and the gyganic. Da fuck..

tbh I've never had any issues germinating chillis/peppers or tomatoes. Put three in each pot, water em, put a coaster over the top and throw em in with the plants. Usually have to cull two per pot. Didn't know they were hard to germinate.

Plum, Peacharine and Mulberries getting their spring on :)

Plusm is almost 10 years old now so I'm just maintaining height and every year the old spurs just bosh out clusters of blossom's.

Peacharine is about 2 or 3 years from stock so just trying to get the shape good still.

Mulberry's gonna mulberry, fruit, chop back, 2nd flush. Winter and chop back, these things just want to grow.

I also need to get a shit load of chilli seeds in to fill under neath the fruit trees this year!

Pretty chuffed at the start of the back lawn season.
Just fertilised it a few weeks ago.
Going to scarify, but not scalp to help with the thatch (we have a new puppy and CBA dealing with the dirt and him at the same time).
The fertiliser (Yarramila Complex + ammonium sulphate) seems to have knocked the weeds on their head for the time being, didnt even get round to spraying it with weed killer, if I keep up the nitrogen the weeds should be kept at bay. Went a few seasons in the last place without weed killer by just pumping nitrogen.

That’s the plan brother get it thick enough and it resists the lawn grub and shit. Thick enough and so few weeds you can hand weed the outliers.

You will find most of the shit you are combatting are nitrogen fixers. If you supply enough nitrogen you can get the grass to out compete the weeds.

This is the way. Solid mastery in the art of lawn. Well done 👍

I'm not entirely sure when or where I learnt it, but figured it out at the last place like 5+ years ago. People seem suprised when I say at my best I dont have any weeds simply by feeding the lawn heaps and putting in the effort to add more nitrogen (regular mowing until the PGR gets sprayed helps I guess). (that and automatic watering, water takes a lawn so much further regardless!)

Its expensive if you only know the Scotts/Lawn hub/Lawn Porn 'decent' fertilisers (which im sure most of them dont have a complete micro nutrient catalogue in their recipes), until you suss you just need a decent fertiliser base and some cheap nitrogen like calcium nitrate/ammonium sulphate that you can buy 25Kg of each for under $100 and will last a few seasons.. Actually I reckon I used the Calcium nitrate instead of the Am. Sulphate this feed to throw some extra calcium in there for the season start, to correct my previous statement.
