puggle ... since you fellas are having a bit of a chat ... i thought i'd ask an off-topic question about one of your cbd seeds from dc collectibles, if that's okay?

i got some seeds gifted to me and it said 20:1 cbd. i was just wondering if you can comment on the genetics, as it is a lovely plant to grow and vape.

i actually have one nearly finished at the moment and she is only about 45 cms tall (which is perfect for my setup) and producing some lovely buds. these seeds produce the strangest smelling plant - i'm not sure if i like the smell or not, but fuck are they stinky.:)

it was called CBD Auto Fem (there were 5 seeds in the pack).

i use them for a cbd tincture and that funky smell, actually can be tasted ... even through 95% alcohol ... lol

i also tested them (very roughly with one of those alpha-cat tlc type kits) and they came out at around 18% cbd for flower and 70% for kief.

They were supplied by Buddha seeds, I don't have details on the linage but as far as Euro trash suppliers they are very professional so good to hear that they tested up correctly. 18% is very Nice (y)

Hey man, I appreciate the feedback and sorry for the poor experience you've had. Feel free to reach out directly with any questions. I do spend time with anyone that wants to chat.
Hi Matt, Ill give you points for standing behind your product and willing to address concerns.

Thats better than some that want your cash then wont respond to anything other than glowing feedback.
Re. Air porosity, it could take a bit to get used to as it really doesn't need much water, maybe only 4% total soil volume. It's easy to overwater, especially in cold conditions.
That info would have been great right at the start.
I dont think Im a complete idiot when it comes to watering, but it was never made clear on any of the sales material.

The retailer that sold it to me talked at length about your product and other unrelated products he stocked.

Other than LOS, his recommendations definitely enhanced my grows. Perhaps if you cant put it on the product, the sales sheets should offer this info, and the retailers given a guide to give good information to the end user.
I've updated the blend again and it now contains wood fibre as a portion of the aeration. 25% lighter, lower bulk density and much higher wettability, less tendency for hydrophobic conditions etc. Had good germination rates and seedling health too.

Regarding testing and nutrient targets, not sure why I keep getting challenged on that, I send samples to Logan Labs for analysis, amend to hit cannabis targets. Standard practice. Check out the lab results on the EAO LS page.
Cheers mate.
DV8: happy to send some freebies your way, and any other advice to help you on your way. -Matt
Honestly Matt, thanks for the offer of freebies, and let me be clear it was never my goal to get any. I dont want freebies or my money back.

Ill continue working with it while I have it on hand.

The mix saved me shipping and finding products seperately to add to a soil mix. Ive been using it fully blended with my new vegetable seedlings. The results have been much better using it as an ammendment, than side by side as a standalone.

I took @itchybro advice and adjusted watering the soil in various containers to track how it performs.

Using as a part of a soul mix wasnt what the product was originally intended as, but for now its the best use of it as a resource. By the time I figure out the optimum way to use it for canna, just seems easier to go back to my old ways.

It almost seems like to use it appears simple, but like everything, you still have to pay the piper. Ill use what I learn from the veges.

Sorry, I only just now saw your comment. Thanks for the detailed response. I thought I had explained the watering techniques in my quick start and amendment guides on the website, but I could be more specific... thanks for bringing it to my attention. Once you are in bigger pots, there should not be runoff. Try to aim for consistent moisture, moist but not damp. Take a clump in your hand and squeeze... it should feel moist. If drops of water come out, it's over field capacity and you need to let it dry out a bit.
The moisture meters that measure tension (NOT moisture %!) Are super helpful. Blumat Digital Moisture Meter is great and affordable. Aim for 100mbar to 140mbar in flower and 80 to 100 in veg. If using an Irrometer, aim for similar but 8 to 15 kpa. This is the consensus in organic living soil cultivation, validated with some solid science for ideal moisture tension in the root zone, specifically with cannabis.

I put them in Self watering planters, to ensure there was airflow and to check my watering wasnt rivers down the side.

I used @itchybro guide to no more than 10% of total volume, 18L container, 1.8L max per irrigation.

Got it.

Its something Ill look at going forward if I go down the path of Easy Organics again.

Its honestly counter-intuitive and involves another fucking tool.

I could have mulched.

I did look at the rootball and media mass after the CK was done. They were easily the shallowest Ive ever grown. Like they went in transplant, spread to edges, and never deepened. Cant say I can remember a time they didnt make the bottom.

Could be it was an auto, and outdoors. Theres ambiguity in that, but one thing is certain, when it packs, it packs hard. The other Auto looks like it needs 20 to 30% more aeration, and I already had 20% perlite in there.

Again, something Ive never dealt with before.

If you have any insight on what Im doing incorrectly Im all for hearing it.

Its probably not even the watering that bothered me, it was how quickly they seemed to fade or be underfed that shocked me. Ill address that with you through email though. Cheers.

18L container is way too small to grow a plant in living soil without some serious nutrient supplementation. Consensus with these media types is 50L min in light dep, much bigger for full season outdoors. When U first plant and water in transplant, U might not have to water again for quite a few days. In full flower U might be watering every day or every other day.

Im glad it was you who said that.
50L, wow. Its definitely a misuse on my behalf. Oddly this may have already been mentioned, but that has just sunk in.

I just wanna grow canna, not another veggie patch, I got my outdoor girls through a season in 300/350s, anything at 450or larger be it in or outdoors is out of the question.

If Im gonna supplement smaller sizes seems silly to add extra los, at least $ for $, not to mention dragging that in to a stealth grow of more than 1 plant. Id need to hire a bus if they needed to be moved haha.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Ill check out the channel, hard to know where to go for good info, better when it comes recommended. Cheers.

Hey DV8

just wanted to say

nothing wrong with having tools to help you with your craft mate

It's cool if you can have a natural feel for things & many people do but for the rest of us we need to learn what naturally comes to some people

using a moisture meter or par meter or temp & humidity meters are all handy valid tools , if i was living in my perfect world any indoor growing would be totally environmentally controlled 24/7 , all of that control would require meters

could i learn that " Feel For Things " over time , Yes absolutely , but i believe i can get just as good " Feel For Things " quicker with the help of tools

also just be careful to not mix methodologies , what coco growers do or what bottle nutrient charts say to do is not necessarily what you should be doing , we all have to learn to evaluate the plant we have in front of us , getting advice is good but we still have to workout the relevance to ourselves & our plants

keep punchin brother
