This thing arrived today. It's a lot bigger than I expected. I think I am in over my head. But it wasn't a bad price $90

It doesn't seem too difficult. I need to do the replacement hose trick. My main concern is not having enough product to wash. May need to save up a couple of runs. I bought a 3gal 220 micron washing bag. I'll review in a week or so. My understanding is to use a little water as possible and mostly rely upon the ice. I think I will only have a few ounces of dried material in the first instance

yeah those machines all have a congregated hose that need replacing , have you ever seen the frenchy cannoli vid of using one of these washing machine with bubble bags in bottomless buckets , no bag used on the inside of the machine

Wrong again? What did I do the first time? What am I wrong about this time? I'm not making things up. I've looked into it, but I am not yet up to the step of putting it all together.
I've seen a few videos of the process including one by the Frenchi Canoli guy. What's your problem?

Sounds to me like you're going about the process in the right way, getting everything together.
I'm a drysifter, not a fan of messy ice/water myself, but you try 'your' method and see how it all goes.
Then you make your own improvements as you see fit.
The ice is to keep the temp low, the lower temp helps the stems the trichomes sit on to become brittle and snap off.
The water floats the ice and the veg matter, the heavier trichomes sink to the bottom of the bag.
So you need enough water to make the veg matter float, giving space for the crystals to sink.

I bought a portable washing machine years ago to try the Frenchie bubble hash technique, but I'm yet to get around to doing the outlet hose mod. & give it a go. It always struck me as too convoluted & time-consuming.
I've always been a devotee of dry ice extraction. As long as you have access to dry ice & move fast once you have it home, it's really quick & effective.

Yeah, he's gone quiet. Too late for me to get an OD crop this year, but whatever.
I have plenty of material from previous years to process into hash that'll keep me busy for awhile.
Fresh frozen stuff that I had to harvest a couple of weeks too early is currently beckoning.

I have been making bubble hash from fresh frozen trimmings.
I just did it how I was tought many years ago but recently watched a Frenchy Conoley and another hash making video.
It seems I have been missing a step and I wonder what the consequences are.
I air dry my hash then place it in tins with baking paper underneath. That's it.
I don't freeze dry then work over a grate or screen then mould into a ball.
I have worked the stuff that sticks to my drying screens into little balls that is what I usually smoke 1st.
Should I definitely be doing those last steps?
Next mission would be to research how to make rosin.

I did mine with dry leaf, but it wasn't that dry that it turned to dust. That stuff looks alright to me but I'm new to bubble hash
