Hmmmm, im no sparky but my gut says replace the capacitor.

Definitely worth having a look at. I repaired a old 150w HPS/MH light by doing just that.

So after some research on 150mm fans I’ve found mountain air to be the quietest at 37db on max then the phresh v2 silenced 150mm 52db on max the canfan 150mm at 62db. All have very similar air movement amounts.
I’ll be purchasing the mountain air 150mm
Found it for $420.

I got 2 can fans , 1 x 150 can't remember for veg tent when its running its not that big but does job and ie quiet
The other is can fan RK 150 /470m3/L hr
This is much bigger unit and runs on speed controller, on full nearly lifts plant of ground , never run more than 1/2 speed

Yeah I need it as quiet as possible for the new place that’s why I’m going with mountain air.

I'm thinking two of these, will try Carbcons suggestion of a 90 bend in acoustic ducting before exiting the room. If still to noisy I will tell my mrs to stop inviting people over to our house
The can fan is much cheaper than the mountain air Porky, but I might have to stick some wind chimes up to confuse the noise though

I have the 200mm version for my extraction and it is very loud. Great fan but.

I cut it off 100mm above tent but remember you could leave it longer or quite a bit longer and just leave it on top of tent or drop it down the side,as long as curves are gentle.....

I just face em straight up as I got high ceilings.

That double walled stuff I seal the cut end up real smooth also, you want to ideally join the two walls at the exit or at least make sure everything is neat and not flapping about, making noise and shit.

I think the AC infinity is the quietest but I run my 2x blaubergs at idle mainly with filters all the time. Quiet by the fan, (20db) silent on the exit

I also use cheap Bunnings hpm 6 inch.

Remarkable how good it is, a tad noisier than a max 150. $150 maybe when I got it.
Produced a few buds now.....still running sweet....

Check the hydro guru shop out he’s much cheaper for the mountain air he might have a better price for the can fan your looking at mate.

So I ignored everyone's advice (Sorry and thanks for chiming in) and got this beast delivered for $100 and fuck me it moves some air and it is actually pretty quiet. How long it lasts time will tell. Thanks ebay/China . Also bought this fan speed controller, surely it doesn't draw 1800w?Maybe just rated up to or something. My 8inch fan only uses 130w

I went cheap i got 2 bunnings fans Arlec and then made a crude lol mdf box, then got 5 metre of tubing for 30$

one arlec just stopped working lasted 1 year lol this one seems a better on though

I got the 200mm / 8 inch AC infinity and it's super loud too.
Made in china like all the rest of them.

Mate has one two, was looking at his setup awhile back, ac gear looks very nice but his was louder than my cheap shit.

Fuck it 389 for peace of mind is pretty good.

Oversize the fan and run at less revs. I went the 8” infinity too. Sounds like jet taking off at full speed but at setting 4 it pulls more air than a 6” at full noise.

picked up this bad boy for 360, will setup later today also got the acoustic ducting to go with it. Went with the 150mm.

At just over half speed it’s super quiet and pulling more air than my old exhaust fan.
