I've used some of their older QB lights (samsung LM281B+ diodes) with good results and no fires of yet (touch wood) (y)

I got one of their XS series lights (samsung LM301B diodes) some time ago, it looks a pretty solid build and has a proper heatsink (fins). But it hasn't been put to use yet, so can't comment on that.

In my opinion they have a slightly better build quality than the SF QB lights

...not sure if their customer service is any better though (as I haven't had to use it) 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I've got a P1000 with the lm281b diodes in my veg tent It's been doing a great job for about 4 years now, it's built better than the heap of shit tin foil MARS TS1000 I had that shat itself in half the time

The Samsung diodes on the viaspectra.,what’s the diff between B and H on the mars sp?

From what I've read and interperate (may be wrong) the H has a higher umol/j 3.1 as opposed to 2.95 and a slightly different spectrum. The gains aren't worth the 1000 bucks extra IMO.

If it only 5% diff on the viaspectra, I’d think about a Mars it’s $200 cheaper for the sp4800. I’ve been running a sp3000 since March. First grow went well. Got paranoid with the Spiderfarmer fire thing, and opened up the light to check all the connection, all good 👍. Haven’t had to deal with customer service, which seems to be another issue.

Is the 5% difference across all diodes or just the top bin ones ..cos I believe the cheaper lights don’t have top bin ,,and that seems they could have more than 5% difference..
unless top bin doesn’t count any more ?

I read an article the H are higher bin than the B that's how they get the 5% they are more selective with the H model but fuck knows without being a electronics wizz

The main reason I'm leaning towards them is for an extra $100 over the mars fc4800 (The samsung model with osram not the bridgelux with epistar)is you get the slightly higher efficient H diodes but you also get a meanwell driver. And from my last experiance the mars driver is what fucked out on my ts 1000. And to buy a meanwell to replace the mars driver was nearly the price of the light so the extra 100 bucks would be well worth spending. I was going to go spiderfarmer but all the bad feedback here has turned me off

H and b aren’t different bins. They’re different diodes. Not hugely different, as puggle mentioned it’s the general purpose vs the horticultural. The b’s abs h’s would than be bin sorted after they’re manufactured by efficiency and a few other metrics manufactures sources diodes off. Rest assured viper and the rest of the Chinese manufactures will be using mid to low bins at best and complete knockoffs at worst.

The bigger issues with Chinese leds I’ve seen is them skimping on the copper trace in the pcb’s 🔥🔥

Are people even sure they’re genuine meanwell drivers. Meanwell have had a bunch of issues with China cloning their drivers.

No one who's buys one will know until it burns down their home!!
Yeah just because they use words like "genuine" don't mean it's true!!
Remember these companies are Chinese dogs who will say and do anything for a sale!!

You would think the sheer volume being sold especially in America Meanwell would be all over it with copyright because that's a huge chunk of sales there missing out on
