looking a bit closer the veils (assuming I’m looking at the right parts) are really small and tight, the horizontal-ish trail half way down the stem in the second pic makes me think that line is where the veil separated

started harvesting yesterday and put them into the dehumidifier, took another few this morning, also added some water to the tray hoping that it keeps the mycelium sufficiently hydrated

first pic is initial flush, then what it looked like this morning before and after harvesting second flush

Hey how do you go about avoiding contamination the more I've been researching the more confusing it's gets do you use glove boxes flow hoods or any other procedures turns out I also have ape's as well so keen to get some going

Nah I don’t have any hoods but I have tried to keep the area I do anything in clean, keep the windows and doors closed, use plenty of iso to wipe things down, use gloves etc

I’ve only ever started with the grow bags ya buy online, so I think contamination is less of a worry starting out that way and the mycelium coming out of the bag and into the tray is healthy and fairly robust (so far). I’m guessing it gets a lot harder making yer own bags from scratch or growing in jars

There's seems to be a trait that the spores respond best on the edge of the tray where the condensation drips back down..

Lookin' good nonetheless.

thanks Indy, I did wonder why the edges were doing so well - I had thought it was maybe cause the casing layer is more shallow toward the edges or maybe I packed it down too tightly in the middle

i was more careful how I put the second tray together - less mycelium near the eadges of the tray, thinner and more consistent casing layer so we’ll see how it progresses

decided to try some of the new shrooms yesterday:. I made a mug of hot water, grated ginger and lemon juice and knocked that back about 15 min before taking 1.2g.

Took the dog for a walk and got back home after an hour still not really feeling anything at all. Figured they were just not as strong as the JF, had a joint and started watching the footie. Noticed the pitch seemed to change shades of green and by the time the commercials came around, the visuals were in full swing. they became a bit much with the flashy graphics so I started flicking through the channels and the next four hours were what I’d imagine @Sun Ra YouTube history looked like - saw channels I didn’t know existed and probably never spent more than a few minutes on anything.

got into king fu panda, no idea what the story was but the pictures were great. I reckon if ur indoors cartoon movies are great idea so will have to google what’s worth watching.

these shrooms felt a bit different to the JF in that the trippyness came in waves - every now and again I’d feel 100% together and a wave of strong visual distortions would come from nowhere and maybe 30 minutes later I’d feel 100% again. not a bad thing, just unexpected. maybe I was off my chops the entire time…

so I’d rate them stronger than JF, more intense visuals, no stomach discomfort but I’m sure ginger helped. feeling clear headed today, look forward to trying them again

coincidentally same day as the post asking about contamination, a small patch appeared that was mushy and green looking so I gave it a spray of 70% iso - it’s the circular bit right of center, it appears to be ok for the moment, hopeful it’s not spreading. more pins coming through so looking forward to next flush

I didn’t have much joy with the iso, so I sprayed a mix of 3% hydrogen peroxide and water on it Sunday evening but I can’t really see it going anywhere useful from here

funny u say that mate as I was only thinking yesterday I might go back to the all in one grow bags cause the contamination risks might be easier to manage

the room is small but I have large heating mat that I put a towel on, then the tray. the temp in there is a fairly constant 21C and the light is a small usb plug in which is on most of the time cause I forget to turn it off

no obvious contamination in this tray so far and hopeful stays that way, have also decided to let the shrooms get a little bigger than the earlier flush

I’ll keep them separate when they dry out to see how their potency compares to picking them a little earlier

first pic is initial flush, what was left then what I picked this morning
