Cl;ackamas Coot Soil Mix

As Pikey mentioned a good living soil mix is based round the compost used
if ya can make your own castings or compost on your land for the indigenous organisms you & your plants already live with
now , if you spray allot of round up & other chems in your property then maybe the above statement might not be the best
choice for you

this is a good place to start if you want to mix your own soils
https://forum.grasscity.com/threads/no-till-gardening-revisited.1400505/
clackamas coot has posted on this thread but is known as AgnesDawgz
definitely read the first post by mofo on that thread

but for a summery of all the good points in that long thread & the soil mix i use from that thread
go here https://forum.grasscity.com/threads/all-organic-recipes-and-notes-compilation.1421024/

where member ScoobyDoobie put all the recipes together in the one place for soil mixes ,
diy nutrients (seed sprout teas ) , IPM ( Integrated Pest Management ) & many other helpful living soil info
like using Malted Barley in your soil mixes & top dresses , watering in coconut water & aloe vera
& how to make your own seasol with kelp meal & water = very simple = this & aloe vera for the win

coco Vs peat moss https://www.kisorganics.com/blogs/n...han peat,Excellent habitat for microorganisms.

I love organic growing and use Searls premium organic potting mix (improved), or something like that. Available at Bunnings. I also add some fermented vege scraps (Bokashi method), and some coir, plus a few other organic amendments.
Works great apart from the fact that it also produces fungus gnats sometimes in huge numbers. I'd love to use IPM but for a hobby producer like me wanting to reduce costs it's not really viable.

Nice.

What is the postage like?

On a 27L bag of TurboDirt

= $14.99 to Sydney and when I consider the price of petrol/public transport... during this bad weather we're having, that price makes a lot of sense.

one of the best IPM to control gnats is using / top dressing castings or compost because of the beneficial nematodes found in them
both can be made at home fairly cheaply & generally at there best when home made

Cheers Itchy, that was some great reading! I've been following BAS for a while now, but hadn't come across the grasscity stuff. Some very good information in those threads (y)

Hey peeps, been gone from the forum for a while sorry... Use JUSTWATERIT for 20% off at easyasorganics. I've modified the soil a fair bit over the last year with some help from a certified crop specialist from the states... His dataset is based on thousands of cannabis crop soil tests so the nutrient targets I've worked on hitting are now pretty dialled after shitloads of lab testing with Logan Labs. We were lacking in a couple of trace elements, also added a little potassium sulfate to help further balance the cations and provide some potassium that the plant can use later in flower when it needs it. Insect frass is now an additional source of N to reduce the need for high levels of neem meal and fish meal, as well as all the other awesome biological stimulant properties that frass provides. Hope that helps

In addition to dialling these primary nutrients and trace elements, a big part of the development last year was reducing sodium, chloride and heavy metals as much as possible. With any potting soil, you really want to be able to see some figures for these elements before growing in it... At least sodium. If sodium is higher than potassium, the plant may take up sodium instead as it does not differentiate between the 2. It is a real problem with composts built with too much manure and not enough moisture. Worm castings are awesome as they are very low in sodium usually. Watch out for high levels of kelp meal as it can elevate your sodium and heavy metals. Cannabis is a powerful accumulator plant and will suck those elements right up and store in its biomass. Rant over lol

Got a link?

Do you use it straight or mix with perlite and coco?

j
easyasorganics.com.au
Definitely wouldn't mix with coco as it will change the pH and dilute the soil. If you are wanting a mostly water only grow with minimal amendment applications needed, use a decent size container, 50L or more in a light dep setup. 3 or 4 weeks veg, keep soil moist but not wet and you will have an awesome harvest.

so what would TSE soil look like?

(hopefully we don't need to compost to many of Porkys nappies)

we haven't spoken for a while , sounds like you've been busy , hope your well my friend
great to hear you've been working with a crop specialist & Logan Labs

did i correctly hear through the grape vine you'll be offering some sort of soil testing to your customers ?
if so what a great idea (y) (y) (y)

the education users will get from understanding a soil test will be worth it's weight i reckon

Yes, it's been a while, moving to a new location and been busy as hell. Absolutely, working with an agronomist that specialises in organic modified soil media to provide some tests and recommendations. Hopefully will have as an option on my website by spring
