This is not my photo. I just wanna ask how do you make the weed looking like this? I remember when I used to buy from the street before growing my own, they were pretty dense and frosty. They probably used the chemicals like Goonie said on the other thread.
But what about this one?

Chlormequat I reckon. @VinDeezle might be able to back me up. Paclobutrazol is what makes them super dense and strips all the trichomes and smell away from it so it ends up smelling like grass, so it's definitely not paclo bud.

Its fucked because pgr has come a fair way since the last 10 years, they sell products that bring some of the resin back after using pgr and it makes it difficult to tell. Other countries have banned the lot besides triacontanol which is basically the only pgr you should be using along with kelp etc.

Yea I reckon haha. I know someone that uses this flower/fruit booster and it's a chlormaquat product. It's usually used on fruiting trees to keep them short but for some reason it seems to be on the market here at hydro shops still. Forget what it is but it's in a black plastic 1L rectangular bottle with a yellow label.

It's crazy. His bud went from looking exactly like mine to looking like machine trimmed medical rocks immediately and they all smell the same regardless.

I'll defo run these out again with some veg, take a cut and do a seed stock.

For those who grow big, do you use trimming machine or do you trim all of those by hands? It's such a tedious work but it would really affect the quality of the final finished buds if with machine trimmer?
I am already complaining about trimming with just a couple of plants lmao.
So just wondering how those big growers go about it.
Anyway, this is it for the Mullumbimby madness. I see some bugs here and there but It's not too bad overall.
Chop and hanging it later for all the villagers to see. She was Madness after all.

mate, if its purso I don't trim haha. I'll just remove all the fan leaves with exposed petioles. The rest just stays on 8" stems and I break off a bud here and there. Keeps better on the stem too haha. I went extra last run and actually removed the buds from the stem but I leave all the sugars on as you can see.

I trim a bud up for a photo shoot here and there but fuck me, I hate trim and do as little of it as I can. And I only have 6-8 zips at a time lol. When I'd grow outdoors it would be a whole family job.

That's one way to go. But I have spatial issues. Have to be trimmed completely and pack it up and make it take as little space as possible.

i do think a machine degrades the flower especially if your using a machine on wet buds

If you do decide to use a bowl trimmer just make sure to dry the buds before you put them through the trimmer. It's actually not as simple as they make out either because you have to shuck the buds from each branch and that can get tiresome pretty quickly.

You do lose a bit of popcorn but popcorn is a cunt to trim either way.. As for the trichs that get knocked off the bud you just chuck em through bubble bags with the trim and make bubble hash. I'd have that plant trimmed within an hour by hand, you might save 20-30 minutes using a bowl trimmer. just have to weigh up the pros and cons

I'm a Satty man so most of me preferable weed looks like this haha so I don't mind a bit of leaf. Laos X Manga Rosa Haze from old SAW.

I bought a bowl trimmer but half of what I trimmed down was gonna end up in the bowl. For the real solid stuff the thumbnail sized buds were still worth the effort. I wet trim out the shade leaves and anything that looks like it has dried out, some of the bigger and easier to get at sugar leaves. Then a final dry trim for presentation and to remove excess leaf. I keep the dry trim, immature buds and bits of clip for bubble. I don't mind a little bit of leaf on them, kinda helps keep them apart while curing.

I just couldn't go to all that effort to handle with care to watch them rolling around like their in a washing machine. I found the popcorn super easy to trim, just a 45 deg bevel cut around the bottom.

I still like the process and it is time consuming rather than tedious for me. A good chance to do some up close QA. I could just sniff those jars all day .I have also come to appreciate this is the most important part of the grow. I had never cured before, It was just grow, dry, bag and smoke. I fully agree though properly cured gear is in a class of its own and it is what sets good smoke apart from excellent smoke.

I'm still keen though, that may change soon enough

It was about 6 years of growing outside that gave me PTSD from the trim sessions. By the time I started growing indoors around 2019 I was already well over trimming so I've been pretty lazy ever since tbh and the enthusiasm for the harvest has pretty much gone for some reason. Always more excited to see the next lot go into flower so there's still something to look forward to. Fav part of every grow is the onset of flower for me. All the plants look pretty similar come week 4. By week 6 they are always showing their individual flare.

I grew up on old Satty bush and most of it was barely trimmed so I'm in the boat of "just let her rip" after taking the main fans off haha.
