Man charged after 5kg cannabis, cocaine seized when car stopped – Broken Hill
A man will face court today after cocaine and cannabis was seized during a vehicle stop in the state’s far west.
Officers attached to Barrier Police District and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting roadside testing on the Barrier Highway, Broken Hill, about 10.30am yesterday (Sunday 3 May 2026) when they stopped a station wagon.
The driver – a 63-year-old man – was subjected to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive result for cocaine and methamphetamine.
Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and seized cocaine with an estimated potential street value of $3000, and 5kg of cannabis in 10 bags with an estimated potential street value of $70,000.
The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.
Police arrested the man and took him to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, and supply prohibited drug greater than indictable and less than commercial quantity.
He was refused bail to face Bail Division Court 4 today (Monday 4 May 2026).

Looks like someone tipped off the coppers. Wondering if they were leaving the state to go to Adelaide or coming from Adelaide

63 year old tests positive for meth and cocaine lol.

What's the bet he was snorting meth laced "coke" like 98% of the population here that indulges in "coke" lol

Since when did roadside drug tests, test for cocaine? I thought it was ecstacy/meth and just cannabis. There must be new ones
