hes probably just young you know how it is. they think talking like you have a stick up your ass is professional. and they tend to not really think things through first. dunning kruger in full swing and they haven't quite hit the valley of despair yet. i say give him a go it cant hurt, not saying be a customer, but he might learn something here.

Any reason for choosing Google home? I always wigged on having anything remotely to do with a set up connected to Google or the likes. Have you used standalone environment controllers? Some offer app integration so you can monitor from your phone etc. I'm guessing aiming for an automated system you're doing hydro or possibly aero?

I am also curious why Google home? I barely trust mine with my house lights.

To answer both of you it's purely for compatibility Ease of online remote access And I'm bored And I had most of the stuff laying around And when I'm done and if it works the way I think it will When I tell the story If anyone wants to try any of what i have done will be able to do it And it will cost bugger all It's also set up in the garage and it's cold outside I live in Melbourne I don't wanna be going out there and less I need to I can watch everything here or at work Tied in with the rest of the house Tell Google going out to play with your weed It likes the way Get up in the morning it shows you Little babies lol But the real truth the real reason I just found it piss funny and I was stoned

Mate I'm all for it, I posted a thread on automation but its a little hard to understand, if you find Google is not quite cutting it try home assistant, just as easy to setup, can use same devices and link with your google/alexa/siri if you like voice control. Won't fill this thread with my crap but there is a camera, bunch of automation and scheduling.

Mate that's perfect. I actually use HA virtualzed with a few other (including pfsense for some fort Knox shit) things on a little pc (quad core 2.5-3ghz low power version, 4gb ram) so not much juice at all, works great.
