Hi all. It’s quite a few years between grows, was doing some research and came upon this site. Have been learning a lot and realising things have definitely evolved in the past decade or two! I’m already questioning how i will go about things now, It’ll take a bit to get my head around it all and make some decisions.
Anyway, I’m much appreciating everyone sharing their knowledge, techniques and products used, it’s making it a lot easier to narrow down what might work for me.
Cheers and I’m sure I’ll be asking lots of questions but will share progress too.

Welcome Jimbo, are you doing an indoor or outdoor grow?
Cheers Anoma 👍. It’ll be an outdoor grow, but I’ll likely get things going inside to start with. We‘ll see how it goes at least! I do have space limitations unfortunately.
I bought a viparspectra xs1500 recently and have it rigged up on a homemade frame wrapped in reflective windscreen protectors for germination and a few weeks growing, then they’ll go outside. It gives me 600 x 750mm floor space to work with. I used timber I had laying around and other than the light, cost me $9 for two windscreen shades 🤣. Chronic tight arse here… The xs1500 is probably more than needed for seedlings but I thought I could likely put 1 or 2 small plants through flower with it in the future.
Im looking forward to getting things going for sure ✌️

I'm not familiar with LEDs but I did use 2 x 130W CFLs to start mine off inside until they got too big for the wardrobe. Everything went smoothly and they grew quite well.

I'd always planned on starting them early and then using the sun to get them going when the season warmed up so you should be good to go with that method.

Yeah the LED’s are new to me too but I am hoping it’ll go well. There will be a learning curve and trial and error but good fun along the way 👍.
