Gonna start a grow diary, thought I might as well introduce myself here too. Gonna be starting up in a 1.5m x 1.5m grow room, hopefully growing in soil (I like a challenge and that good feeling you get once you've sorted out the kinks) but maybe due to time and lack of research I'll end up using non-organics for this run. First timer, have read a few threads and diaries on SE lately, looking forward to learning a lot more as I go along, and sharing any progress or cool shit I find out from elsewhere.

Whenever ive done a soil run i always have greenhouse seeds powder feeding the hybrid mix on hand, because when i fuck the soil up i just finish with that it can be used in Hydro or soil1000022536.jpg

Welcome mate...

Soil inside ay?

Been there done that...

I would suggest you layer

Some sorta gnat barrier to top of pots... https://www.bunnings.com.au/yates-4-5l-gnat-barrier_p0170990

Will save you a headache done the
Track....
Mate I've found a half shovel full of yard soil inoculated every soil mix I've ever ran and lately I haven't even needed that. I reckon soil mites do a better job than any of the methods i tried when I was in Coco which was a surprise. I tried mozzie dunks, peroxide, barriers and Neem flushes to no avail.

I'm lucky enough that no matter what I do, all me mixes are absolutely choc full of hypoaspis before I even consider potting.

No gnats here for years now.

never used the gnat barrier stuff but a top dressing of mustard seed meal will do the trick , as well as feeding the soil & activating soil life , $10 1kg
oh & don't use plastic pots because trying to stick the meal in drainage holes to stop the gnats is difficult , go with fabric pots instead , no drainage holes
