I remember talking to my parents when I was younger, including my father who was a boiler maker tradie then a crane driver and CFMEU member, who voted labor until he moved up here where this electorate has never had a labor pollie, not even a Liberal pollie, country party to natonalional party since the electorate was formed. Did have a progressive independent in state politics but holy shit did she cop some shit even though, she got more funding out of dan andrews in her 1 term that the current natonal and previous state national combined. It was rigged in her favor thoughI wouldn't be surprised if it was scripted. But yeah seems like everything is getting way out of hand now. So much division when it's just 2 sides of the same coin.
Politics is just like religion, how they conveniently seem to contradict eachother and so on so forth, look into anything for too long at a time and surely enough it will drive you mad...
I digress, apart from me living in conservative land, back when I was young and my parents wheere young, politics was only talked about at election time or if something big happened if parliament and that was rare. Everyone got on. no one even slogged the opposite side of poltics that they are for like they do these days
edit: in fact it was the knifing of kevin rudd and julia gillards carbon tax that the old man said he'd never vote labor again even if he moved back to where he grew up, which is labor heartland. Although he hadn't been voting labor for a long time before then
