FNQ outdoor advise

Hey guys , just moved to Cairns from W.A . Been growing indoors for years but want to put some outdoors in this year. Whats the go up in the tropics, is it to late to germinate now (start of dry season) and do photo periods do well in the tropics or am i better off doing some autos.
Any advice appreciated
