My other passion. Shame our fishing in the gulf here has gone to shit over the lasr coupla years. It has been a while since me and the young fella went out. In under an hour we caught 30 squid. Now we cant catch any due to the algae bloom. Ffs havent been abke to catch snapper for years now we limits have changed on most of what is worth catching.

Photos of my usual haunt - the puter harbour rocks; not that I've bothered last year... but the couple times I went this year I cansee feeder fish around the rocks which is good, but heaps of shitty stringy dead weed when pulling up.

I agree im gettingba pod built for the bertram and putting twin 250 hp EFI 2 strokes on the back. A mate done it on his i was scepticke but its halved his fuel that the 2 chevs used and it launches harder. The old mercruisera HP is measured at the flywheel the outboards is at the prop. So with the loss through trans on the chevs prob only 190 at the prop

Cant imagine how much that would cost in fuel.

Its comments like these that bring me back down to earth when I feel like buying a boat lol.

Mate bailed, was a lovely morning though.
Was expecting rain but it was clear all morning.
Only the one keeper, 46cm salmon, threw 2 juveniles back.
Thai fish cakes for dinner tonight.

My biggest so far, usually i just get under 30cm juveniles.
My dad got a stonker 62cm one down south earlier in the year when we went for the weekend. Thing was solid as fuck, fillets were ridiculous.

I can hold 600L of fuel , i burnt 100Ĺ last trip out to morteon island in my boat and we went in my mates a couple weeks back same boat as mine just with the outboard conversion and we burnt about 60L but also cruised at 25knots where in mine we sat on about 18knots

my son is mad keen into fishing at the moment... I really need a boat! but considering getting a fishing ski so just the two of us can go out... fly over to moreton or the islands when its nice an calm.

him and his mates just catch public transport around brisbane and fish for fun, mostly around the city.

What were you fishing with? Just a paternoster, 5/0+ hooks and pilly?

Yeah circle hooks,30 lb braid,40lb fluorocarbon leader and live herring.
Poor sting Ray had a few hooks in him ,
Old mate pulled em out.
While we were standing there silly seagull hit the line on other rod and snapped line.
He flew off bet he wasn't feeling well.
I thought it was a shark!
Old mate was laughing.

Saw a much bigger more colourful male the other day but was too slow.

Up at 3. In the car at 3.45. Hour 15 drive to Sellicks Beach in SA.
Line in just after 5, nothing for 2 hours, then 4 casts in a row landed 3 Salmon and a flathead in the space of 25 minutes, the another salmon just after 8.
Had never been to this place before, but pretty chuffed.
Dealt with a few bouts of rain, but thermal pants and waterproof hoody and neck socks and I was dandy. Then the sun came out before my line snapped on a big bulk of seaweed, broke the 20lb braid main line. Was getting ready to call it quits so not too much of an issue

Awesome thats dedication.
When i get around to taking the boat out again you're more than welcome to tag along.
Problem is atm can't even catch/keep any squid for a while until rhey recover from the algal bloom. Snapper have been banned for years.
Hopefully the gulf recovers soon. Miss those early mornings on the water.
