Different seeds, same tent?

Without wanting to tempt the kustom fairy kunts, I’ve now got two separate seed deliveries en route -

Gorilla Glue #4 from MSM
Grape Dragon and Palestinian Princess from 7EG

The flowering time for each varies from 56 to 70 days according to the sites so am I asking for hassle by starting some of them off together or it won’t really matter?

Yep, you are 'asking for hassle by starting some of them off together'
I say this because I did the exact same thing and ohhh, what a headfuck. I grew 2 strains, one BOOMED in grow the other was slower. The booming one took over the growspace as the growth splurt when turning12/12 was huge, blocking the light to the slower one. It was the slower one I wanted to boom, but it didn't get the opportunity. Now, I grow one strain/grow. It all grows at the same rate and is much easier to manage.

Not at all

Some prefer to grow 1 big plant , but they generally have some stock built up of different strains

, like me others prefer to have multiple strains for variety every grow

They finish when they finished

Most have 2 tents or more for different stages of development, ie propagation tent. Cloning tent /veg tent and flowering tent

As I said Merlin, is a stickler for 1 plant , but myself and others have managed it quite successfully. So don't he put off. Just get more tents lol

I’ve run multiple strains every grow so far. I find that veg is same for most. Then I flip and what ever finishes first gets chopped while the other keep going. They all get the same feed and al that.

Last run my NL5x took around 2-3 weeks longer than expected.

Though now I’m planing my next grows on strains that have a similar finish time just so I can start the next grow quicker.

Yeah that’s what they all said when I joined Oz stoners ,,,
I think I proved them all wrong .
I think you made the mistake of not choosing what strains to grow together Merlin.

basic rule I use is to try for similar finish for height,,,but I can get by with some variation of about 30-40cm

Same with finishing times ,,I can put 8 week ones with up to 11 week plants ..they always get extra time to fatten up and I can harvest the faster finishing ones first, instead of doing them all in one go..just that alone is a bonus.

Matter of fact there is merit to growing multiple strains ,,and it’s not hard to do.

So your bad experience was just a lack of pre planning.

check out my grows you might be surprised.

And each to their own.
We have a newbie, starting out. What's going to be less hassle was the question? Multi or singular?
Get a grow or 2 under the belt, learn the setup, then go from there.
I grow one strain, my choice. If you want multi, then go for it.

For me , I use my grow tent to dry as well because it has a carbon filter for smell and I only have space and $ for 1 tent. So if the two stains finished at different times I would have a problem as the lights need to come out to switch to drying. I now only do 1 strain.

ok thanks all, will do some reading on the heights but also thinking, fuck it, i've bought ~15 seeds so probably going to try and germinate 6-8 of them and see how things go. I'm bound to fuck up first few attempts so will try and learn from the mistakes...

And if anyone can explain to me why the fuck a piece of molded plastic (flood and drain tray) costs over $100, that would be great. I'm clearly missing something from the pictures (in different thread)

Capitalism.

But can make your own ..still gonna cost you ,but not as
much .And can make it fit sizes the bought trays don’t have.
Ive been using one for seedlings that I made years ago .

I dry mine in the grow space .

Either in paper bags ,,cardboard box’s ,,just block the light getting to it ,,,I’ve used news paper for that.
it actually slows down the drying process in the summer,,which is a plus,,,whilst the carbon filter gets rid of the odours.

I’m talking about flood and drain tray..
although I only use is as a drain tray ,
Made from wood.
Stands on a low table I made and Drains into a container below ..
the yellow is latex based water proofing .
Comes in different colours ..used mainly for the water proofing
that tilers do.

Common plastic outlet set in the base for drainage.

Being used For reversals at the moment.

Everything is so pro, clearly no shortage of handy folks here!

So that’s way better than what I was thinking - chicken wire over a larger plastic saucer that the fabric pot sits on

I love the coco growing but dealing with the run off is its only drawback and risky not to give them enough. Some growers treat coco like a soil and only water/feed every few days etc, fuck knows how that goes but I feel they grow better when the coco is always moist. I'm having to water/feed my flowering auto (15 litre pot) twice daily in this weather, 2 litres a pop.

Used the chicken wire to keep the fabric pots out of the run off in the saucer, cheap and easy as it was laying around. But the saucers had drain hoses hooked up that ran into a drain. (I grow in a shed) That worked great but I was too limited with pot placement in the room due to drain hose lengths.

A full size drain tray is the go. I have a similar diy tray set up to sedges. Allows me to move the pots around at ease and rotate everything daily. I was going to buy one from Aqua gardening (1200 x 600) was a pretty good price but the postage doubled price due to size. fuck that. And my room is more like 1300 x 700 so made a custom one. Its currently not even in the room as Im growing in soil in there atm.

I’m taking the missus to Bunnings this AM so will have a look and see what I can put together.failing that will get something online. In a unit and the setup is going into the spare room - the missus will go spare if it looks like I have shite everywhere or water going onto the carpet. Didn’t appreciate how much water I’d be using with the coco setup!
