G'day all :)

Long time between cones ... hope all is going well.

I was just wondering if anyone has experience with growing in Canberra in a rental. I was wondering whether there are any hassles with landlords (leases) or strata rules.

Thanks heaps
Welcome to the forum. If you plan on growing indoors it's still illegal to, it will fall under 'advanced cultivation' (using tents, lights etc).

It will completely depend on your landlord, my guess would be a no but perhaps not.

For outdoors the plants must not be visible to the public or close to any children.

Thx Goonie. Also wondering if a landlord can put something in the lease that says you can't grow on a balcony or in the back yard. I was hoping that it would be possible to sign a lease and just grow a couple of plants on a balcony without any agent or landlord hassles. Might be a bit off base though.:)

You could definitely give autoflowers a go on the balcony I reckon. Just don't tell anyone about it or your landlord.

Another good idea would be companion planting in a garden bed with a bunch of other plants. It would look a bit better than stumbling across 2 dope plants sitting alone on the veranda I would say.

Canberra is pretty relaxed though, the worst that could happen is they'll come along and cut the plants down.

If timed well you can definitely have everything finished between inspections, a few members here are in the same situation and they seem to do fine 👍🏼

Im in Canberra living in rental property and ive not had any problems. I have a 5x9 and a 2x4 in my second bedroom and only during harvest time is when the smell sometimes creeps out.

At inspection times I pack up the 2x4 veg tent but leave my 5x9 flower tent operating and my property manager asked me what it was when I first moved in and I looked her square in the eyes, smiled and told her it was a photography dark room lol she goes "wow that's really cool" and continued with the inspection.

I switch off my lights to avoid any excessive smell from terps burning off under heat from the led and I leave the exhaust fan running on slowest speed and no one is more the wiser.
