Pretty sure turbo grows a plant in one from time to time but think he uses soil not sure but I agree with you I reckon it would be easy for things to turn to shit fast..
I'd love to be able to run autopots instead of the flood trays but I'm sure there'd be way more maintenance involved and probably constantly flushing salty pots out.
The setup i run now might be a waste of space but i can also fill up a 100L reservoir and be able to leave for upto 2 weeks depending on the growth stages and come back to healthy plants.

If you take a look at some of the posts over on reddit.com/r/Autopot/top/?sort=top&t=all you will see plenty of good grows. This is enough to make me believe it can be done well. That doesn't mean it will be trouble free though as there are also plenty of posts complaining of issues.
I am still tempted by them also, main thing I am concerned with is the risk of a valve malfunctioning and emptying the whole res out into the tent, which is apparently not hugely uncommon. For me in a carpeted room that would be a nightmare. Not as big of a deal in a shed etc, but still not ideal.

Also, not to derail the topic too much, but as another automation option, this seems like a pretty cool piece of kit, and actually decent price considering hydro shops rip you off for ~$50 each on those drip trays normally without the sump pump.

yeah....i've been giving 2 auto pots and doing a test run with them in a 4x2...and yes, i was wondering how i go about it if i wanna flush them....i let you all know what im experiencing...i was just wondering if anyone has done that so i can be a bit more prepared to what is coming...

I can get a good deal on a xl 4x autopot system.
So i am contemplating trying autopots.
Now lets jump down the rabbithole.
Seeing autopotammus on youtube and reddit looks like some nice results can be had.
I currently am using a run to waste system.
Just like to expirement so this something i might try out. If i dont like the results i can still use them ouside for chillies/tomatoes.

I have been using autopots for a couple of years . First in sand now in Perlite . Much lighter to lift. Have a 200 liter res which lasts minimum of 6 days depending on grow stage. I have had one tent flood strange as both pots were dry at the time and tent was empty . 
Still don't know how it happened. I don't flush . Using Diamond T and Cal N . I keep the PH at 6.5 7 . I have 15 pots on the go. Some auto's some fem . Hope this helps

Cheers mate for your response it is much appreciated. 100% perlite thats interesting we use to run 100% perlite 20years ago b4 coco became popular. I was thinking of coco and perlite i have a lifetime supply of coco so might as well use it.
I see that some people use air domes and some dont. This will be a fun experiment for me when i do start it up. I will start a post on it if thats the way i end up going.
The autopot system is over an hours drive away from me. In Adelaide thats like driving to victoria. Not keen on the drive though i might make a day of it. I need convincing it is worth the effort. $370 worth for $200 all brand new.

nothing like a road trip. That's a decision you have to make . No system is perfect . Have a perlite factory 20 min from my home so it is cheep as . 2 bags filled 15 x 14 lt pots. for $70. First run so not sure if I will reuse or replace it maybe bit of both.
