Another FCforum migrant

Hi ya'll,

Excited to discover this forum, seems to be THE new spot for Aussie stoners which is so great to see!

About me -
Peeps from FCforum might recognise my username. I used to be pretty involved in the vaporizer scene, and lived in the Netherlands (aka Holland) for 8 years. While living there I worked for a large conglomerate company in the headshop/seed/mushroom/vaporizer space, doing media production (design, photo, video). Some of the coolest projects were designing branding/packaging for seeds and shooting instructional videos for vaporizers and other headshop products.

While living in the Netherlands I also started a Youtube channel about the Amsterdam herb scene, heres one of my vids documenting a 420 celebration:

After leaving the Netherlands I got invited to make a series of instuctional videos for the USA's largest vaporizer retailer which was an awesome experience.

After that rollercoaster ride I moved back to my semi-rural hometown in Australia about 10 years ago.

The ability to buy herb over the counter and smoke it openly in Holland spoiled me, and I really miss the Amsterdam life! Having said that, we're heading in a good direction here in Australia. I've managed to get a medical prescription which is pretty surreal and gives me hope!

The pandemic fucked me. That feels like only last year. But somewhat being locked up for 2 years really done a number. Despite not really being that locked up compared to vic but I swear I'm institutionalised from it lol

Speaking of vapes, I gotta get back into vaping. Been ripping bongs again the last few months and me lungs are akin to a few bags of dicks ATM. Allergies definitely worse too.

AKA "Fuck Combustion" forum, but I'm not a fan of that name. Nothing wrong with combustion, its all a matter of personal taste! I do prefer vapes but will happily use whatevers on the table

I did get to see a a small commercial grow from a friend that supplied coffeeshops (small room, probably 8 plants in soil). At that time I'd never tried growing so didn't really appreciate or understand much, but it was still super interesting.

The most I've ever seen was 1oz, so it was cool seeing a few pounds still on the plant. The guy got me to squeeze a live bud and smell my fingers. I was shocked how amazing it smelled and how my fingers stuck together!

He also let me try some of his personal stash, including some that had been cured a few years which hit really different in both flavour and effects. It was also completely orange, I guess because the chlorophyll had aged out.

I've been there! Have you tried a vapo-bong? This is what converted me from smoking bongs to vapes. Keep in mind if you're coming from smoking you'll need something that runs on mains power (a "Desktop vape"). You'll probably find the little handheld battery vapes too weak compared to bong hits.

The most popular heavy-hitting style of desktop vape is called a "ball vape" which can hit as hard as smoking if you crank up the temp setting. They're compatable with standard bong fittings (18mm / 14mm GonG) so you probably use your existing bongs if they have standard fittings.

Some of the ball vapes are pretty expensive. I'm using a Chinese clone called the "Tiodw" which are virtually the same but just a little less pretty. Around $250 for a complete setup (bowl, heater and power controller) if you can BYO bong. Not shilling for Tiodw, its a been my daily driver for years now and I don't feel any need to upgrade.

Thats a funny coincidence, I was actually researching that tidow vape recently after almost fainting at the cost of a universal baller. Glad to know you like it. Might pick one up eventually. The mighty goes alright, but sometimes wish it could hit a bit harder after building the tolerance up a bit
