Has anyone else recently popped seeds from 7East?... interested to know what the germination rates were like.
I may come under fire for this one, but I've had the worst germination rates since my seeds from Mediseedman in 2022 when he had the so called "storage issues!"
From thew 5 strains I got, 2 strains had %100 germination rate, while some had zero. Yet I had %90 germination rate from 20 seeds from local supplier Greespacegenetics 3 weeks prior to trying 7East. Feeling really frustrated at the moment, I had high hopes in 7East, but this has left me pissed and deflated!
I know they have a germination guarantee and I have sent them an email in regards to this...and this is the letter I sent to them.
"Hello, thanks for the seeds you sent and the freebies too! Much appreciated!... I really hate to be that one guy who says they've had an issue, but the germination rate so far has been really concerning.
First off, I just want to let you know I'm not a new to this. I have been growing for over 30 years both indoors and outdoors and pride myself on my growing techniques and germination rate. I normally soak seeds in rain water (Farm tank water) for 24 to 36 hours to soften the seed shell and then I plant directly into coco coir, almost all seeds germinate within 2 to 4 days. My germination area is always at 22 to 24 degrees.
From the seeds I received from you I planted 3 of each at first. From the 3 Palestinian Princess all 3 germinated, though all 3 have had issues, 1 is completely stunted, 1 is deformed and all 3 appear unhealthy compared to anything else I have going at the moment. From the 3 Cherry Dragon, 2 germinated but one was so deformed it wasn't worth continuing with though the remainder is healthy. From the Kawartha Kush, none of 3 germinated & from the Headstrong none of the 3 germinated also. From the Skunk #1, all 3 germinated with one being completely deformed which I didn't continue with.
After this I replanted x3 Kawartha Kush, x3 Headstrong, 2 Cherry Dragon & x2 Skunk. From this the 2 skunk both germinated and are super healthy, all of the others failed to germinate again.
I now have the last 3 Kawartha Kush and last 3 Headstrong seeds & 1 Cherry Dragon in again and are on day 4 with no germination yet (these I did not soak and will update you in a few days)
In comparison, 3 weeks before your seeds arrived I planted 20 seeds from a local seed supplier. From those, 17 germinated and all are super healthy (after 10 days another popped, so 18 in total) This is why I decide to reach out, even if you perhaps didn’t agree on my germination method. To have a such a bad rate for germination from Kawartha Kush & Headstrong, but yet the skunk #1 & the Palestinian Princess was %100 germination rate should show that my germination method may not be the issue.
In saying all of this, I don’t expect replacement. I just thought you should know.
Kind Regards!"
...and this is their reply!
"Deformation is cause by bacteria or viruses.
It's most likely your water.
Only germinate with sterile water and media and i recommend a few drops of peroxide to cover your bases.
Call me on my cell in about 20 min just heading to the office"
So apparently my rain water is the problem... gee how on earth do seeds in nature grow from rain water?
Seems so hard, just to get good fucking seeds that you don't have to be kiss goodnight, or not touched or looked at in the wrong way for them to germinate....
7East can go fuck themselves after that reply!
