outside growing in Aus

hey everyone, first time grower (trying to keep it on a low budget!) here with a few questions :)

1) I'm looking to try to grow next year in the Australian bush, any tips on the most heat resistant strains that are easy to grow down south-ish in Australia?

2) During the peak of summer should i water my plant everyday because of how hot and dry it gets around my area? (36-46ish)

3) common pests for cannabis plants in aus that i need to watch out for?

4) can i plant my transplant into in the ground in the bush, instead of in a pot? (keep in mind i plan on loosening the soil and using mulch not sure if that will help tho)

5) best - and cheapest!- ways to dry outside? (legallity ofc), i was thinking in a camping tent (i also have a humidity reader to help) with DampRid and a fan for a few days then to paper bags then cure them like normal when ready?

6) when is the best to start germination/planting around vic/nsw areas?

thank you guys <3

2) Don’t you have an idea of how much water a decent size plant will need per day ?

3) lots of pests everywhere, think insect netting ,
then you got bigger pests ,think wire fencing ,
then the worst pest of them all,,ripoffs,,and arsehole mates that you brag to.Think Shotgun 😊

4) yep.

hahaha, thanks for the tips.
and ofc i have an idea, but ive never grown before and have only grown small herbs in my garden before, i do have have some tips ive gotten from researching, such as putting your finger in the soil untill your first knuckle and if its dry then water, and its actually good for weed to get a bit dry and not be constantly wet to prevent rot and etc.

not planning on bragging to anyone else than my close friends who i smoke with as.... i should'nt REALLY be doing this where i live but yolo, and plus im not going to show anyone my spot ever.

and thanks! should i mix a bit of soil into the ground as it tends to be rather dry and clay-like (hence the turning it over and loosening it)

0. Welcome the nut house.
1. All strains will handle the heat if you keep the water up.
2. Every day is good.
3. Cattle, roos, deer, rabbits, grasshoppers etc. See how you go...
4. In the ground is best for bigger healthier plants.
5. Slower the better. Shade is best and seal up at night to stop the dew from rehumidifying.
6. I'm not qualified to answer that as I'm not down south.
7. Consider your stealth situation from the air and surrounds. (Try not to wear in tracks)
8. Good luck.

Hey buddy, me personally would concentrate on holes u gonna sink ure plants in2
U need 2 have these already ammended with aged compost, be it fish, or some type of aged animal manure or even diff types of meals so when u ready 2 transplant in2 ground, u'll be ready 2 go
Also some type of microbes 2 dust ure rootballs with
Close 2 some sorta water source or u be lugging water in all the time
Wouldn't use whatever soil u dig outta hole as this will be nutrient deficient
Our more esteemed masters on here could point u in direction of best seeds 4 what u wanna do
And probs best bit of advice " LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS"

thanks so much! and i dont have to worry about people following me and being too secretive bc i live in the middle of nowhere... literally, so next growing season (i did some research and its around august to start germinating) im just gonna drive out of my little town for maybe like 20mins and look for a good spot, i can water it every day after work and things etc.

yeah, i think i plan on putting some makeshift fence of chicken wire around it for the roos and rabbits, should i cop a bug net too?

and do you suggest i just hang my bud up in the bush or just in the tent? i always thought it could dry out too quick leaving it outside of a day (especially in AUS), i was trying to look for recs on it but everyone was very adamant on humidity and keeping the drying plant enclosed.

thanks for the tips! yeah due to dry clay dirt ground (just redgums and leaves typa bush) i plan on doing a bit of prep in the spot before hand and taking out all the dry ass shitty shit and putting nice fertalizer in it from bunnings with maybe even some blood and bone

i also live close to a river so that should be fine ill try to find a spot close by (hopefully, bc close to the river is prone to water skiers and campers), or keep a big camping water jug (like 10-20L) in my car and just refill it at home.

My blood 'n bone ventures didn't pan out so well over the years with my bush grows. I found it bought the bandicoot's or something similar in that would dig it up trying to get to it. Chook shit was the better option in the end. (y)
thanks for the advice! its probs for the best that i dont use food products so i dont attract animals

Welcome.

Good luck on your grow.

If you’re going to get digging I hope you have a good shovel.

If you prep the site now and mix in a soil bed with compost and worm castings. By September/October you would have a decent soil structure for your plants to take off.

How many plants are you thinking of?

Maybe think about some companion plants next to them too. Helps attract beneficial bugs
Lavender is low maintaince
Peppermint, marigolds stuff like that.

yep avoid animal manures / products & stick with compost &/or worm castings which will help retain moisture
& add soil biology

put a cover crop / green manure mix in now https://www.bunnings.com.au/mr-foth...km-FN9eHWAYaVT31HTRoCDi4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
when you plant out your plot you'll chop the cover crop down & turn it into mulch , add some more mulch like straw ( browns )
over the top to retain more moisture & feed the soil

if your choice of plot is mostly a dry area & you start adding moisture that will attract lots of the locals & i don't mean the human kind of locals
adding a cover crop now will give you a bit of an idea what might happen when you plant the important plants
trail cams hidden are a good addition to a gorilla grow site although they do cost a couple of bucks

im going to start next grow season (around this/next week i would start to germinate), im not too sure, i want to start with 1 plant as it will be much more manageable and easier to cultivate and cure, and use a feminized seed, but im worried that if i only plant 1 if might get rot or sm and get lost, but if i grow more than 1 successfully then i wont be able to manage all the yeild.

yeah i might try to do that if its possible, although i sold my car this year and am buying my brothers jan next year, so i might try to find a spot with my best friend as she has a car atm.

im going to put a big mozzie net over it with poles and rocks to hold it down , to help shield from bugs, animals and too much direct sunlight so i dont have to worry about locals too much

Yeah mate I used them all the time with guerilla grows

Best if you know someone who can make them for you , not that easy to source

A unglazed clay pot with a top could also be used

Depending on the quality of soil in area you may need to amend 1 big area or a hole for each , 1/2 square filled with whatever you choose to throw in

Lot depends on soil in area , ie whether it's mostly clay or a good soil to start with how and what you amend it with

The more clay the more preparation

At a minimum 6 month's prep will he required if you want success

I’m looking into Olla watering pots and raised beds.

These could help make the watering more passive and completely unpowered.

@itchybro have you seen or used them before.
yes mate i know exactly what your talking about
the blumat classic's are a similar thing , not exactly the same as a traditional olla though

i played around with the blumate classic's , they were no good for outdoor canna
great for indoor house plants though

worth giving a tradional olla ago & cheaper if you make them yourself as mic mentioned https://www.abc.net.au/gardening/factsheets/olla-watering-pots/11988902
