Medicinal prescription while in hospital

Hi,

Just spent 24 days in hospital (Twisted bowel surgery). Recovering at home slowly now but I can never trust a fart again.
Was on opiates for first 14 days and then insisted I went off them. The opiated was doing my head in but did an ok job with pain.
Asked my doctor and nurses about my medical prescription and was told that I could use it if my prescription was in date. Only issue was that I would hand the gummys to my nurse and they would dispense it as required. I did that and they were happy to give me when I wanted. Only issue was that it said to take 2-3 gummies a day on my prescription. Before I handed them in to the nurse, I kept half the supply on me because i knew 2-3 a day would not give the pain relief I needed. I was taking 2-3 at a time about 3-4 times a day. So the medical cannabis system in Victorian hospitals seemed to work ok. I also vaped regularly in the carpark. Had police walking past me (scared the crap out of me at first) but they did not care. The hospital did not approve of my vaping but it was needed for quick relief. I just thought I would share my experience with Medical weed in Hospitals in the hope that it may benefit others.

Nice to know mate. Hope you are mending up well. Glad you didn't end up going down the forever opioid path. They do work relatively well but obliterated my stomach so I was lucky I didn't take a fancy.

Didn't enjoy the opioids at all. Too many unwanted hallucinations and they can constipate you and that is the opposite effect of what I needed.

As a young lad had an ingrown toenail, was on codeine for a week and half or however long and i went to town. Demanding it every 6 or 8 hours however it was written on the label from my parents. Didn't realise that after a week and a half I hadn't had a bowel movement for days and hoo haa. Safe to say I was a few kilos lighter

On a lighter note I usually find the fart is worth the chance of relief between bloated bowels trapped wind ill take a chancer as long as I'm at home

Fuck, the fentanyl was actually terrible. Like when you think opiates you could say they feel kinda blissful, but fentanyl is the complete opposite.. has you spinning out, accompanied by a gutwrenching feeling of dread along with the hallucinations. Its like living a nightmare lol

Oxycodone was a bit like that for me when I hurt my neck. Now that I think about it the feeling of dread and a bit trippy. I asked can I just go with codeine in the end but the doc said I'm pretty much healed and took me off them.

This was during the opioid clampdown so I was lucky to even get treated with oxycodone but so many patients while I was in the waiting room went off there nut because they were getting kicked off there oxy script. Mind you they all looked like they smoked meth and drank and smoked ciggies since they were 12 so they probably didn't need the oxy.

Yeah I remember those chemist brand 15mg codeine and paracetamol tablets they had in the tan glass jars. Apparently people were doing "coldwater extractions" to get high. I heard in other countries like England you can still get them over the counter no questions asked lol..

over the counter codeine in like nurofen plus and pandeine extra was so handy but I remember before the ban I started seeing empty packets and blister strips in the parking lot and thought shit maybe it is a bit of problem
