Ph always goes back to tap ph after a short time. Help!

Hi, first timer here having some troubles with my ph, everytime I ph my tap water to 6.3 I aerate and leave it over night, when I re test it the following day it’s always back at the tap water ph 7.8-8 am I doing. Something wrong or is the tap water here got some sort of none soluble chemicals in it? I’ve even brought a different ph down to test that but it still does the same thing.

It's normal (buffers in the water). Aerating water will bring the ph up too so maybe try it without the aerator to see if there's any difference in the time it takes to rise. Are you using phosphoric acid as pH down also?

Sounds like your pH down is most likely citric acid, it will fluctuate a fair bit. Try and get yourself the pH down that is phosphoric acid instead, it's a lot more stable.

You can also get 85% phosphoric acid too which you can dilute down with water to make your own pH down which will save you a bit of cash and will last way longer too

They used to have a great nutrient blend called Powergro Growth & Bloom (top of page) I'd love to source again. One of the first in the country to add kelp to the product, iirc.
