i have spent a lot of time in India back before the turn of century. bringing home beans was so easy in those days lol. i planted a north eastern india landrace sativa from Nagaland outside in spring like in september. This mush have been the late 80s. By the following May it still had not matured fully, but the central stalk was wider than a packet of cigarettes. The plant was almost 4 metres high. Was on a large acreage at the time so was lucky it was never seen by anyone! Eventually the winter killed it, never got any fully mature weed off it because its flower time was way too long for our temperate climate! Nobody even knew about cloning in those days!

Why didn't any tnuc know about cloning ?

Cloning plants has been around hundreds of years, you stnuc should of read a gardening book hey

"Cloning plants goes way back in history. Cutting, which is a way of cloning plants, goes all the way back to the Middle Ages. Another way of cloning plants, called tissue culture, was first used in the 1950s on orchids, and in the 1970s on other plants."

Probably because the majority of people at the time just tossed seeds in for the growing season. Sure cuttings are old news, but until indoor became the norm mid 90s, most people were probably seasonal backyarders or guerrilla bush growers.

You're not from Melbourne? In the late 80s clones were raging, if you grew from seed you were a dumb hippy. Wasn't until the worldwide seebanks came online that seeds even became a thing in the hydro scene.

A lot of people don't realise but QLD was like a decade behind melbs.

I understand it...when the cops come you only got busted for the amount of plants and dry stuff, cloning implied 'more plants' more crime, more jail time
most experienced growers can get a plant from seed to that of the average clone in 14 days, my rule and many others if shes not got roots in 10 days trash it

to this day noobs don't see the difference, that its not a separate plant at all ....at least until its got roots

Nah. Where i am, in the 80's no one heard of cloning. Hydro was a rare rare treat. Hash was everywhere, as were thai brown heads, the odd thai buddha and local heads were all seasonal coming from places all over the east coast and inland NSW/Qld.
