I'm a bit of a tight arse when it comes to grow mediums, and reluctant to spend much, I need some big beds for peach trees and other fruits as well as some herbs, if your Gona buy what's important, I want a general sandy loam type mix, or can I go wild and dig up some humus rich soils and rock stuff, I was considering a big bag of humic acid

Best bet is to go to your local seed and produce/agriculture/horticulture supply shop and get a few bags of cow manure and cheap bulk coir.
I scored a big 25kg bale for $50 a few years back and the quality wasnt the best but good enough for what I needed it for.

Instead of buying humic acid look into Gyganic and Seamungus by Neutrog. Gyganic is basically gogo juice leftovers made into pellets, Seamungus is humic and seaweed pellets and both are loaded with beneficial bacteria/fungi too.
I find lots of wood in garden soil, still possibly good if you are wanting to chuck a heap at the bottoms of the beds like the Hugelkultur method, which seems to be an excellent way of cutting costs when it comes to filling up beds 👍🏼
