Just a thread about plants. Breeding plants. Mendel and his genetic thingy. Asexual reproduction via ethylene inhibition. Using cuts to rapidly create a homogenous strain. Selection and why it matters so Damn much. More clone stuff, probably more clone stuff and clone bones.

Using STS on plants, when, how and why does it work. Pheno hunting, why your nose is your most important tool. Resin and how to breed for maximum cakage.

I'll just be putting examples of various plants. Why I selected them, how many were passed over before finding a keeper. The application of pollen. Why I no.longer use regular reproduction.past f3 unless keeping a breeding line or for reintroducing vigor or parallel lines.

So I'll just do a little ditty every so often on.this thread about breeding. Step by step procedures. Tips tek and all that other good stuff I've fucked up 100 times to learn so you don't have to. 😂😊😉

Another giga zkittles S1. Bred from selected fast flowering f1 cut. 95799288_162183661931629_3066562943756795904_o.jpg

This male was one from about a dozen dark ghost train haze x Skyfire f1 plants I popped. I also popped about another 120 seeds from a couple different strains, area 51 and ALD 52 both my own F1 hybrids.

This boy jumped out. So much resin. Almost thought it a hermi but nope. Pure frosty AF boy. Smell not that loud but a definate spicy chemical fuel with notes of sweet candy. Interesting I thought.

I collected and stored the pollen with a qtip after drying the flower and allowing the pollen to fall onto a plate. Sealed in a vial and then sealed in a labeled bag in freezer. The rest rapped a few promising girls. I'll keep these f1 handy and grow some out in 2021 or the 8 offspring I've going atm i may do indoor. 🤔

I should have enough of time to run the f1 and bx to the father before the stored pollen is spent.

Clones. In the clone room atm. Will be going outdoors in mid october. These are from.the selected breeding fire og plants. These are S1 cuts. I'll use these to select my future mother once I've committed to one pheno of the 3 evident. Then using STS I'll be squaring this strain away.

I have kept S1 seeds and the original f1 regular cross that created the fire og femme fast. Fire og used was dark heart nursery. Do they have rights to one of the most common cut on the west coast. Maybe but we are in Australia so Fuck.it.

The squaring process for this will be to grow out the femme seed and reverse a cut. This will then be applied to the seed plant presenting the pheno type desired. Then this will be repeated.

I've already got tight breeding in the bag so to speak. However I do like out breeding and doing the odd chuck. You can always come back and work on something down the track.

If you self an extremely vigorous plant, is the vigour likely to be present in the offspring or does it regress?

So to maintain vigor I think I mentioned reintroducing S1 to your say s3. S2 probably will lose no vigor if you select well. Remember though selfing is extreme inbreeding. If parent 1 vigorous then it will be a vigorous strain until inbreeding degrades it. It will not regress in one generation.

Even starting with two separate parents 3-4 gens in and you've cubed you will lose a lot of vigor. So at some point you start 2 lines from 2 separate parents post f1 or s2 cross but before f4, unless your selections amazing. Because st f4 your a few gens from ibl so to stop the three stooges syndrome you need separate lines to re cross and stop the mongy.

I look at it as select, cross, lines, stabilize. Keeping first gen seeds viable is another long term strategy. Cross them back.in to revive a strain.
