Best budget led for a veg tent.

Hey y'all.

I want a decent veg led for a 1x1x2 tent. Budget is around 300 bucks, maybe up to 400. Will use my 600whps for flower.

I know cheap isn't good, but I blew a bit of coin on the easy as organic no water SOIL. Haha. Plus I seen a few people's having good results on the other forum. And.....If it's on for 18-6 I would like to save some coins with cheaper led power usage .

Could get a 600w metal halide globe use that to veg saves buying a new light.

Yeah Gazza, given the cost of power, would not be worth wasting 300-400 just to veg for a month...

Yep, and lower power output would take longer to veg as the footprint would be smaller.

My 400w hps murders my 1x1x1.8 space the height is a bitch but still workable.

I plan on 4-5 weeks of veg, or as long as it takes to train them a bit to spread.

I thought running a led for 18 6 would be a bit cheaper than a 400 or 600 watt globe. Even with a digital ballast.

I run two tents but have mh and hps globes for both setups. If u buy just a 600w mh globe say 80 bucks your up 320 bucks which will go towards your power bill, and save the life of your hps globe as you would use the mh for veg and the hps for flower.

In the end its your decision if you really want a led here is a few i would look at in your budget range.

I had a look on eBay and for 400 can get a tent, with a 400w mag ballast with both mh and hps globes and a filter and fan etc.

Can use the 400w mh for veg, and the other tent for flower. So that might be the go. Stick with the old technology that we all know works.

Id be looking at using no more than about 250w to veg a room that size and 400w for bloom.

Old school HID rule of thumb is 500w Per square meter in bloom and 1/2 of that for veg. More than that and it becomes difficult to manage heat.

A 1.2x1.2 would suit that 600 better.

Budget as. It'll work a treat too. Don't bother with the mh globes as that ballast ain't switchable and retro fit globes are shit. Pussy reflector on that kit but it'll work.

You could easily veg a 1x1 with 100watts of decent led. Less than half of 250hid.

Thanks porky. I like the look of that, and afterpay is a bonus.

Now just need to find a decent tent in 1.2x1.2x 2 or 1.5x1.2 for the flower tent. And get some fans etc.

My wife is telling me we have to much on afterpay at the moment, so I have to wait. Typical. Haha.


Are the power savings really noticeable compared to ballast and globe?

I will say defs take porkys word over mine he knows his shit with led. Makes sense now i thought u were using just the one tent. Im neutral when it comes to hps vs led both have their place. New tent and led can fan etc sounds good.

Ive got this cool plasma light think its a 200w induction light. Might give it a run for veg in the aero tent after this run if i get same result using 200w less that could save a few bucks over a month.
