Autoflower seed production

I made some seeds from strawberry milk and qookies Autoflower the 1st cross they did make another cross but switched the parents around. Anyway this was some really nice smoke. I grew 2 plants one for smoking the other to produce seeds from. I was successful making seeds using my typical sts method. However when I tried growing the offspring they were runts. I mean they just didn't hit the gas peddle. Ended up throwing them only tried 3 seeds but all 3 did the same thing. I will try again to see what happens.
I am thinking that I should grow 2 from the original seeds and cross them with each other rather than crossing it onto itself.
Anyone care to share their thoughts.

Sounds like it's worth a shot.
Strawberry milk and qookies is probably one of the frostiest autoflowers I've ever laid eyes on.

I would like to see you grow em out 😍😄

Same as b4. They lack any vigor. I will give them another week or 2 b4 disposing of them.
So my question is the parent of these seeds was a strawberry milk and qookies autoflower that I treated with sts spray then used the pollen to produce seeds. Only one plant was used.
This a fail imo so I will most likely throw away all those seeds. Or throw them in the scrub for shits and giggles.
Going forward I would still like to produce seeds from this strain so I could use the original seeds I was given and use sts spray on one clone to use the pollen to pollinate a different clone ie different seed.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You may have an issue with your grow environments or grow media.
It may, or may not be, a genetic issue.

Unusual for all 3 seeds to stall like that.

If you have lots of these seeds, maybe post a few seeds to another TSE member, to see if they can get them going?

Unlikely environmental as I have other seeds that grow fine in exactly the same conditions, it is just these that seem to have problems with. This now makes it 7 for 7 runts.
I have plenty of seeds and always happy to share some around. Just feel that these seeds are a waste of time. If anyone is wanting to try some I am happy to give away.

Just an update. For shits and giggles I pollinated the last strawberry milk and cookies auto with whute truffle pollen. Today I ripped it up and collected all the seeds they were small as to be expected. Guess how many seeds I collected.
On another note after thinking more about what old fox said regarding environmental issues could be causing the stunted growth. I realised I am over watering my seedlings. I have lost so many over the last few weeks and all seeds I only had 1 ofs. After counting my losses and starting again with seeds gifted to me I finally overcome the challenges I faced. Going forward more perlite in my seedling mix and less watering is helping. And I put down another 4 strawberry milk and cookies seeds and yes I fucked them when I was realising that it was overwatering causing my issues. 1 out of the 4 is going well 1 other is starting to bounce back and 2 I pulled out. So after all said and done it was most likely grower's error's in this case my heavy handed watering. Hopefully 1 of these does what it should then I will be happy. Will put some more down and do another test. Sorry for the rant.1000016122.jpg

Good on you for persisting with the autoflowers. It took me a few times to get them right too, they just can't stand too much love in the first few weeks until they develop a good chunk of roots.

Lots of people screw them up but decide to blame the plant instead of working it out, vowing to never grow them again 😂.

Cheers mate. This genetics is definitely worth the trouble. I am lucky to still have a few of the original seeds I was given as well as heaps from what I made also. So looking forward to growing a couple out properly this time.

These are the last 2 smc. Yes overwatered. Hoping the one on the right will do ok. Will slip the out and into bigger pots soon. Only put these in to see if it was me or the seeds seems it was me. Happy to share some around in the future.

Weigh the pots on a scale.

Weight differences help you identify a cup that needs water vs one that still has moisture.

For example, my seedling cups are under 190 grams when dry. They get a drink when weight reduces down near 200 grams.

I had to use the weight method on my current seedling grow as humidity was very high, and temps were very low, so substrate surface still appeared, and incorrectly felt, moist.

Tbh I'm struggling to figure out why so many people get such strong issues with overwatering. I have watered every seedling I've ever grown indoors for 5 years daily to saturation and have never had any of the overwatering signs regardless of peat, Coco, living soil or potting mix. Winter, summer, low humidity, high humidity.

Genuinely curious as I always end up with issues if I don't water every day.
I've even moved away from using more than 5% perlite In me potting mixes and still water daily with no overwatering issues.

Just seems bizarre how I've managed to avoid the one issue that everyone usually has for 5 years now and i water like so much more than anyone else does, especially at the start of a run. I can leave seedlings sitting in an inch of water somehow and have never seen overwatering issues.

I reckon I could water me seedlings three times a day and not notice any difference from once a day. I wonder why. Like I water a comical amount compared to everyone else.
